COREtec floors are a wood composite flooring (WPC for short), they are 100% waterproof and they offer hundreds of styles and colors. They have realistic wood looks and textures in various sizes as well as cork underlayment backing that makes them quieter and warmer underfoot.  They feature an effortless interlocking system that can be installed over most existing subfloors. So no glue or adhesive is needed.

You want the subfloor to be as clean and level as possible before installing new flooring.

When laying flooring that interlocks the way COREtec floors do, you start from the left side of the room and work your way to the right so you are able to lock each plank into each other. You also want to lay the flooring parallel with the longest wall. When installing any type of flooring, you want to make sure you leave a 1/4” gap between the flooring and the wall for any expansion the floor may do, so for this, you need to have flooring spacers. You need spacers because you have to lock each piece into each other, and the flooring will move against the wall if no spacers are there.  You need a tapping block and a mallet to lock the pieces into each other.

When you start with the first row, it’s important this row is installed straight, because if it’s not, the whole floor will go at an angle, so make sure your walls are straight. Once you get to the end of a row, measure the size board you need and use a utility knife to score and snap the board where you need. Use the rest of the board you just cut to start the next row, and just repeat the process all the way across the floor.  and don’t forget about your transitions. Transitions offer a seamless look between different kinds of flooring. Once the floors are done you will have to do a good cleaning with some warm water and a mop, and they are finished!

If you’re considering how to install natural stone floor tile, be aware that there’s a significant difference between natural stone and ceramic tile especially when it’s over wood framing. Natural stone materials are porous and require a sealant or glaze to help fill the pores and make the material resistant to water and stains. … Unglazed ceramic tile will need a sealant or top coat to protect it from staining, much like natural stone.

Stone Tile Floor Structure Must Be Twice as Stiff as for Ceramic Tile

The wood framed floor system must be in conformance with the applicable building codes prior to the natural stone installation.

  • The maximum allowable floor member live load and concentrated load deflection is L/720.
  • When an installation is to receive ceramic tile, the requirement is L/360.

This means that the stone tile floor structure must be twice as rigid (stiff) as the wood floor system required for a ceramic tile installation.

Additionally, the Natural Stone Institute (formerly the Marble Institute of America and the Building Stone Institute) prohibits installations of stone tile over single-layer wood floor systems under backer board since the joints between the subfloor panels cannot provide the necessary strength.

Therefore, two layers of structural wood panel are required on floors to receive stone tile when backer board will be used as the substrate.

Stone Tile Also Requires 95% Mortar Coverage

Also keep in mind mortar coverage for natural stone.

When it comes to achieving acceptable mortar coverage, you’re looking to meet the ANSI A108 requirement but we exceed the requirment:

  • For ceramic and porcelain tile, 100% mortar coverage in dry areas and 100% in wet and exterior areas.
  • For natural stone tile, the required coverage is 100% whether it is installed on the interior, exterior, wet, or dry areas.
  • To achieve this 100% coverage we take the time to back butter all material

Top Quality Material only used for installation, based on years of experience.
